ABOUT THE BOOK:
An irreverent and humorous guide to fighting inequality and building workplace democracy, from a hard-boiled union organizer and soft-boiled stand-up comedian who happens to be the same guy
Let’s be honest: work sucks. But what’s a guy, gal, or pal supposed to do about it? This pragmatic and mildly exasperated how-to guide has you covered. From the basics of talking to other human beings who do the same job as you about forming a union to the more advanced topics of negotiating a contract or building a mass strike, the tools this little book offers are guaranteed to change your life for the better. And there could be no better guru on this journey toward labor militancy than Nato Green—a stand-up comedian and lead negotiator for one of the largest unions in the country.
Whether your aim is to raise wages, combat racism in the workplace, save democracy from creeping totalitarianism, or thwart oligarchs near and far, Your Boss Is Lying to You will walk you through the steps you and your coworkers need to take to build the power to win all that and more.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Nato Green is the country’s only semi-functional hybrid of standup comedian and union organizer. Kamau Bell on FX, appeared in Boots Riley’s Sorry to Bother You, and his record, The Whiteness Album, was named one of the best comedy albums of 2018 on NPR. His writing has appeared in the LA Review of Books, the San Francisco Examiner, In These Times, VICE, Huffington Post, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, among other publications. One time the Episcopal Archbishop called him the antichrist. He lives in San Francisco.
