ABOUT THE AUTHORS:

David Belisle (http://www.davidbelisle.com/) is a Seattle-based photographer and has worked since 2001 as a documentarian and personal assistant to Michael Stipe.

Michael Stipe is a singer, photographer, film producer, and activist. His previous book is Two Times Intro: On the Road with Patti Smith (Little, Brown). He lives in Athens, Georgia, and New York City.

R.E.M. (http://www.remhq.com/), formed in 1980 in Athens, Georgia, and is composed of Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Michael Stipe. Since 1980, they have become one of the world's most respected and popular bands, with more than 100 million records sold, releasing more than a dozen studio albums and touring worldwide. In 2007, R.E.M. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their much-anticipated album Accelerate is due out April 1, 2008, in North America and March 31, 2008, elsewhere. They will be touring Europe and North America in summer 2008 in support of the new album.
